The Shape of Time & Space (and Trains)

Sorry, sometimes I can't help myself. I am simply in awe of Einstein.

I just wanted to share the elegance of Stephen Hawking's explanation of how Einstein's theory of relativity shows that time and space are inextricable interconnected. Time is not a straight line; it doesn't move like a train along a straight set of tracks...time has a shape.
Time has a shape.
So what about time-travel? Well, it would appear that time, however we may wish it to be different on many occasions, has a one-way direction. This model is simply a way to envision the idea of curving space while involving time.
I know I'm weird. I think it's beautiful.

The Reverend Boris...The Cat

OhMyGod this is too much. I had to share. A friend of mine had his cat, Boris, (That's him with the cross in case you're kinda slow this morning) ordained. Yes, you read right. He found a service who actually has made his cat an ordained minister. I'm so sorry...I can't stop laughing.
Of course, the thing that gets me, and has me going this morning, is the state of all
these Get-Your-Degree or Certificate or Diploma-Right-Now-Just-Give-Us-$$$$$ websites and services. I mean, hello? HE GOT HIS CAT ORDAINED!
This has me in a snit (that's southern speak for pissed-off, but much more lady-like). I'm going to take Tippi, the wolf, and see how far I can go getting her credentials certified somewhere. This could get really shameful, so be on the look-out. I'm kinda scary when I get into a determined hissy-snit. (ya'll can figure that one out).
As for Reverend Boris. Sorry, I'm still laughing. I know, we're going to hell for this. But hey, maybe Boris will be able to get us out.

The Joy of BlogBirth

Yep, froze over. Finally got started on the new blog. So, it's almost 2am and I've finally got the first pics uploaded and ready to go. I had planned to start some new posts tonight, but Tippi (the wolf dog) decided during our afternoon walk earlier through downtown that she wanted to meet a poodle on the other side of the street.
I forget how strong wolves are sometimes...
She totally caught me off guard. Ten seconds in total and I was off my feet, horizontal and airborne still clutching at her leash, back on the ground and still being dragged. God, this poor unsuspecting guy walking his poodle. Probably almost peed himself - a big, determined, lunging, body-dragging wolf coming at him and FiFi, or Frou-Frou or whatever the poodle's name was. Fortunately, Tippi is about the sweetest thing on four legs & just wanted to make new friends. Turns out FiFi's owner's also owns an antique shop I walk past almost every day downtown, and he clued me into his "not advertised" secret stash of old books up on the top floor after he ascertained that he and the poodle were not about to become dinner. Actually, Tippi and little FiFi dog played together quite well while I remembered how to breathe and think at the same time. Tippi is so happy to have a new friend.
On my end, I came out of all this with the rest of the day at the clinic and a pretty new arm sling thanks to a dislocated shoulder.
Once I can walk again I will definitely have to go visit the upstairs trove of old books. For now, I'm taking my battered & bruised self to bed. I'll continue tomorrow or the next day or whenever the little pills the nice doctor gave me kick in. That should make for some interesting posts. Stay tuned.
